Prepared Pantry New York Rye Review

The instructions on the mix said to add water that was eighty degrees in temperature. I use a Zojirushi’s bread machine and it has a preheat cycle so I just added tap water.
However, my house’s well water doesn’t work always well with bread mixes or bread recipes. This doesn’t happen all of the time, just after the water has been treated with chlorine.
Anyway, after five to ten minutes of kneading the bread did not look good.
I should have used bottled water.
No worries. I added flour a little at a time until the dough looked better. (It took 2.5 tablespoons of flour.) In the end, the bread came out fine.
The New York rye bread had a good flavor and texture. We made some very tasty sandwiches using the bread and leftover corned beef. Yum!
