Bread Machine Tip – Be Sure to Let the Pan Cool
Recently I found an important tip for using a bread machine. I was researching replacement bread machine pans. Many people made comments like this:
NEVER put cold water in the bread pan while it is still hot after baking. This will warp the base of the pan and cause the beaters to scrape the non-stick coating off in a circular pattern. ALWAYS let it stand to cool before washing it out.
The instruction manual that comes with my machine does say to let the pan cool completely. However I didn’t know that the pan could actually be damaged by putting cold water into it before its temperature dropped. Yikes!
Thanks for this tip.
My first bread machine was a Panasonic, but we threw it away after a few years, because we couldn’t find a new pan. It was slightly broken at the bottom where it fit into the slot. Not sure why. I never put cold water in it, before it had cooled off, but I did wash it in the dishwasher machine. Maybe that was the problem?
Hi Britt, I’m not sure about the Panasonic bread machines. I know that with the Zojirushi the dishwasher would have been disastrous! The underside of the Zo’ bread pan should never be in water.
